A little bit about the curly vegan...

Hello, and thank you for stopping by!

This is my fist post so I thought it would be a great opportunity to tell you about me, why I have started to lead a vegan wholefoods lifestyle and what to expect from my blog.

Since I was a young teen, I have always dabbled with vegetarianism and pescatarianism. I have always loved animals and nature. I remember the days when I used to protest, as my family ate in a well known fast food restaurant, by standing outside and refusing to go in. Luckily for me, I have an aunt who is very dear to me, who used to teach me about how the Amazon rain forest was being destroyed in order for this restaurant to graze cattle to make the burgers. This aunt often made me think about the world and question it, as did my dad, so I grew up with a conscious feeling that eating meat was wrong.

However, unconscious life took over! I left home for university and was dealing with some internal unhappiness, and I lost that feeling. I was blinded by the illusion of life, which lead to unhealthy choices. I chose to eat meat and junk food, continuously shop for possessions, smoke, drink, take drugs and do anything to mask the pain I was feeling. Since then, my life continued to lack direction and I had no idea what I really wanted, and if I even deserved to be happy.

So what changed?! I started to listen to the real me, and to my body, which led me on a journey to healthy living and spirituality. In turn this has returned me to the real voice inside me which has always said that respecting other sentient beings brings us one step closer to God/the Divine Source/our higher selves (or whatever you prefer to call it), while at the same time improving our physical appearance and feelings of vitality and health. I now choose a no meat, no eggs, no dairy lifestyle. I also try to exclude as much processed food, soy and gluten as possible, and include lots of raw fruit and veggies and wholefoods. My skin has begun to glow, my hair is shiny, I am losing weight in a healthy way and I feel happier than ever. I also love to cook so it is allowing me to get inventive in the kitchen and create wonderful new dishes. I am only just starting this journey so I am hoping that this blog will help me document new discoveries and recipes, as well as inspiring other people who are on the same path.

That all sounds pretty deep, so if you are a meat eater or an atheist or whoever you are, please don't feel that you will be judged here. I am not the vegan Hitler, nor will I push my spiritual beliefs down your throat. I simple expect my readers to keep an open mind and enjoy really tasty food, whether you eat animal products or not! Instead just expect lots of really tasty wholefood recipes, some craft, DIY and recycling tips, and other ethical lifestyle blogs. We can all continue to eat food we love, wear clothes and beauty products that make us look and feel great, and get creative, whilst respecting the planet we live on and animals we live with. My goal is to simply make people think about the world we live in as my aunty did for me.

Thanks for reading and until next time, stay healthy!
